A Smarter Way To Manage Kerbside Space: Introducing The New Kerb Platform

Grid Smarter Cities has launched the new Kerb Platform, bringing easier bookings, clearer insights and greater control to the people managing and using kerbside space.

For delivery drivers, knowing where to stop can make all the difference to the working day. For fleet operators, coordinating that space across multiple vehicles adds another layer of complexity. And for local authorities, understanding how the kerbside is used is essential to managing competing demands.

The latest version of our Kerb platform brings these needs together, with an updated experience across mobile and desktop that makes it easier to find, book and manage loading space.

New Kerb Platform

Less admin. More certainty.

The updated Kerb Platform helps drivers plan ahead and know where to park before arrival. A clearer booking process makes reserving space more straightforward, while favourites keep regularly used bays and vehicles close to hand. Booking reminders help drivers keep track of when and where they are due to stop.

When an unauthorised vehicle occupies a booked bay, drivers can report it through the app and move their booking to an alternative, pre-agreed location, helping them complete their delivery with less disruption.

For teams coordinating multiple vehicles, bulk booking reduces the time spent creating individual reservations. The improved DVLA lookup feature also makes adding vehicle details quicker and easier, simplifying everyday administration.

Better visibility of the kerbside

Alongside improvements to booking, the new Kerb Platform introduces enhanced dashboards and reporting for fleet operators and local authorities.

Clearer information on booking activity, vehicle movements and usage trends helps users understand how space is being used, identify patterns and make better-informed operational decisions.

Together, these updates give users greater visibility of kerbside activity, from planning individual stops to reviewing demand across locations.

Built on experience, designed for what comes next

The new Kerb Platform builds on the practical experience of delivering bookable loading bays, including our award-winning work on Walworth Road with Southwark Council.

The scheme, which combines digital booking with dynamic on-street signage, has demonstrated how more certainty at the kerbside can support delivery operations. Stantec’s analysis of operator activity in 2024 indicated a 40% equivalent reduction in Penalty Charge Notices at this location, freeing up enforcement officers to target other hotspots in the borough. It also has an estimated first-year benefit-cost ratio of 3.8.

That experience continues to inform how we develop Kerb: making the platform easier to use and giving the people relying on it more useful tools.

“Our new Kerb Driver app delivers a smarter, simpler and more intuitive experience for our users, and represents a significant milestone for Kerb.” said Toby Hiles, Sales & Partnerships Director at Grid Smarter Cities, commenting on the launch.

“Built for today, designed for tomorrow, it lays the foundations for something much bigger – evolving beyond booking individual kerbside spaces to intelligently orchestrating access across entire cities, powered by hyperlocal, real-time decision-making that responds dynamically to the needs of people, places and the activities taking place at the kerb.”

Updating your app

Existing users can access the new Kerb Platform with their usual login details, and any existing bookings will transfer to the new system. iOS users will receive the update automatically or can update manually via the App Store, while Android users will need to delete the old app and reinstall the latest version from Google Play.
