We are working with Richmond Council with Virtual Loading Bays (VLBs) located in particularly busy, congested traffic corridors, these areas have been selected because they are in areas of focus for air quality. By managing the kerbside in these locations, we aim to alleviate further congestion and improve air quality in the local area.

What is a Virtual Loading Bay?
A VLB is a digital dispensation which allows drivers to load and unload in close proximity to their delivery point at locations where loading is normally prohibited, without the risk of receiving a PCN.
The locations of a VLB and time periods that access is permitted are pre-agreed with the local authority, and can work around periods that reduce impacts on the network and traffic flows.

Smarter Greener Logistics
The Richmond VLBs were originally part of the now-concluded DEFRA-funded Smarter Greener Logistics Trial in collaboration with Cross River Partnership. Find our more about the trial below.
