Grid Smarter Cities is excited to share our in-depth feature in the leading trade publication for the parking industry, Parking Review, on our new technology Virtual Loading Bays (VLBs) as part of the Kerb® booking platform.
Virtual Loading Bay located on Watling Street in the City of London.
The Parking Review article explains how VLBs are a digital dispensation which allows drivers to load and unload in close proximity to their delivery point at locations where loading is normally prohibited, without the risk of receiving a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). The locations of a VLB and time periods that access is permitted are pre-agreed with the local authority, and work in partnership with operators to improve safety, and reduce adverse impacts on network and traffic flows.
John Crosk, Chairman at The Brewery Logistics Group said:
“The Brewery Logistics sector has key health and safety considerations when delivering to hospitality venues. To deliver beer to a pub we require at least three feet of space around the back of the vehicle. The Virtual Loading Bay booking capability helps our members with access, compliance and delivery certainty.”
Grid’s VLBs are currently being trialled across London as part of the DEFRA-funded Smarter Greener Logistics project in collaboration with Cross River Partnership. The initiative aims to reduce congestion across London and improve air quality, contributing to a cleaner, greener and more sustainable urban environment.
